Field Day June 28-29, 2025

Once again Boone County Amateur Radio Emergency Service and the Central Missouri Radio Association participated in the annual ARRL Field Day held in the Rock Bridge State Park grounds on June 28-29, 2025.

BCARES and CMRA amateur radio operators participated with nearly 32,000 other operators from the US, Canada, and countries world-wide in making radio contacts.

Field Day QSOs were cataloged in one of five activity categories;

  • Club or non-club groups
of three or more people who set up temporary/portable Field Day
sites away from their usual station
    locations
  • Club or non-club groups
with one or two people who set up temporary/portable Field Day
sites away from their usual station
    locations
  • Mobile or rover opera-
    tors from vehicles, bicycles, and
    boats
  • Stations
operating from home, with either commercial power or emergency power and
  • Stations operating from
    or as EOCs

Our group (K0SI + KE0SIY) consisting of 39 participants chalked up 130 contacts operating radios using 6-100 W.

During the course of the weekend our clubs were favored with a very delightful pot luck meal headed up by Herb Watchinski KØZB followed by a very informative and entertaining demonstration of ham radio satellite communications from Chris Swisher KØPHP.

All-in-all the organization had a very memorable time at this year’s Field Day and will be looking forward to participating in next year’s event.
